‘No Plan To Drop Traffic Violation Citations’
March 15, 2014, 9:30 am

Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at Ministry of Interior Abdul Fattah Al-Ali says Kuwait will not follow Sharjah’s footsteps in dropping all citations issued against traffic violations due to the GCC Traffic Week, reports Al-Rai daily. He declared this after inaugurating the exhibition of the GCC Traffic Week at the Avenues Mall on Thursday.

He stressed that the ministry does not have the right to take such a decision because traffic violations are considered as misdemeanor cases. With reference to Article 207 of the Traffic Law, Major General Al- Ali said it is legal to confiscate the drivers’ license and seize the vehicle if the motorist does not pay full attention on driving such as by using mobile phones and so on. He explained that the GCC Traffic Week is an excellent opportunity for delegations from various GCC countries to exchange experiences and information about trafficrelated issues and cases.
