The "Green Oasis" campaign will continue efforts to beautify and protect Kuwait's environment, said an official here late Thursday.

Speaking at an event held by the campaign and sponsored by Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), Green Oasis media official Fatima Al-Enizi told KUNA that the campaign, which kick started in November of last year, aimed at greening Kuwait and protecting the country's environmental assets.

The campaign made its' clear that environment protection could not be done without the involvement of society; therefore, brochures, posters, and other advertisement materials were given out to involve citizens in the process, said Al-Enizi.

She indicated that the involvement of civic groups and the community was paramount for the success of the campaign, adding that several government agencies had contributed to the Green Oasis cause. On his part, KFSD Deputy Director Brigadier Khaled Al-Terkait said that the fire department was keen on support efforts to protect the environment.

The campaign's goals are parallel with the KFSD ambitions to keep Kuwait clean and pollution free, said the official.
