'Labour ‘reviewing’ files related to human trafficking'
May 8, 2014, 9:15 am

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the State Minister for Planning and Development Hind Al- Sabeeh said the Labor Sector has been reviewing the files related to human trafficking and already referred 34 employers to Public Prosecution for violating the Constitution, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Al-Sabeeh declared this while receiving the Director General of International Organization for Migration William Lacy Swing who visited Kuwait on an official assignment recently.

She disclosed “it’s the first time the ministry has taken such a drastic action against employers”, and noted the step was borne out of the feeling for constitutional and ethical responsibility with determination to implement the constitutional provisions.

She said the issue of trafficking in people (TIP) is among the main files that call for serious concern among the Kuwaiti officials and citizens. She assured the government is working hard to reduce the rate of marginal workers and clamp down on the negative phenomena that rise from the situation, indicating those who create problems will be held accountable for their actions through the implementation of Constitution.
