14 women get jail in vote-buying

The Criminal Court sentenced former National Assembly candidate Meshari Al- Hosaini and three other citizens to three years in prison with hard labor for buying votes. The court also sentenced 14 women to two years imprisonment in connection with the case, but suspended the enforcement after signing a pledge of good conduct plus KD 300 bail bond.

The Public Prosecution charged Al- Hosaini and 17 other suspects among them women for buying votes during the previous parliamentary elections, and confiscated photocopies of citizenship certificates from the former candidate’s office.
