April 19, 2014, 8:58 am

MP Mubarak Al-Khureinij presented a parliamentary question to the minister of finance on the growing rate of drug-related crimes and smuggling via the country’s official ports, while drugs contribute to the highest degree in destroying the future of youths, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

He asked for reasons behind the authorities’ failure to reveal a large quantity of drugs smuggled into the country involving three million ‘Captagon’ pills. He wondered if the Customs Administration has a problem in detecting narcotic pills smuggled into the country, and why they do not have necessary equipment for conducting inspections.

In a related issue, the Budgets and Final Accounts Committee has issued notifications on the excesses and violations detected by Audit Bureau on the final accounts of the Council of Ministers for fiscal year 2012/2013, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Chairperson of the committee MP Adnan Abdul Samad said a million dinars has been spent so far, but there are no documents on the mode of disbursement.
