June 24, 2014, 8:53 am

The manpower authority in cooperation with the Interior Ministry will intensify inspection campaigns during the month of Ramadan against beggars.

A source in the authority said that any beggar caught during the holy month will be deported immediately, and the file of his sponsor will be suspended and dealt according to the procedures of iqama violators.Meanwhile, informed sources said the Social Affairs Ministry assistant undersecretary for social development Munira Al-Fadhly rejected applications by charity societies to approve some representatives to participate in the 11th project to collect donations during Ramadan, because they are not registered in the NGO files and do not have iqamas.

The source said that minister Hind Al-Subaih insists on having NGOs meet the laws and conditions that organize charity work in Kuwait, especially decisions issued by the Cabinet in this regard to protect charity work from ‘intruders’. Director of the Cooperative Inspection Department and acting director of Cooperative Development at the Social Affairs and Labor Ministry Hani Al- Shimmari denied issuing any decision to stop appointment of Kuwaitis in cooperative societies.

Shimmari described the social affairs ministry’s request to send the employment structure, financial cadre and number of national workers as an organizational procedure to study and set a unified structure for all cooperatives
