Five hundred and seventy doctors and nurses, affiliated to the schools dentistry program went on strike in various health areas demanding back pay for more than two months, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Commenting on the strike, Clinical Supervisor of the Hawalli schools program Dr Shaheen Al- Hawaj said the doctors had exhausted all means to get their back pay.

The strike was the last option when all their demands fell on deaf ears especially since many doctors faced the prospect of being forced to leave their apartments for non-payment of rents. Al-Hawaj added some of the others have other commitments such as bank loans and school expenses of their children.
