Police checks bid to arrest fugitives, criminals – MoI

Criminal securitymen raided a prostitution den in Salmiya area and arrested four Arab women and an Asian. A security source said Public Security Sector received a tip-off about the activities of the ladies practicing prostitution in Salmiya area and raided their apartment after placing them on surveillance for some time. Initial investigation revealed the women were charging clients KD 100 for their services. They have since been referred to concerned authorities pending their deportation. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman notified officers at the South Surra police station that a male compatriot sexually harassed her and tried to convince her engage in immoral acts with him inside a popular restaurant. A case was registered.

‘Hunt for fugitives’: General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at Ministry of Interior affirmed that precautionary measures and security checkpoints are part of the ministry’s plan to take necessary steps for seizing fugitives and those wanted by law for criminal, civil and other cases, reports Al- Shahed daily.

The department explained that these measures include comprehensive security campaigns that are not limited to specific areas alone, but will cover all areas of Kuwait in all six governorates without exception. Ministry of Interior will continue its efforts to fulfill its vision of carrying out all the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to it in accordance with an integrated plan. The department urged all citizens and residents to cooperate with Ministry of Interior and its procedures such as by carrying their personal identification documents at all times, responding to these procedures and precautionary measures which are aimed at achieving necessary security and safety, and urging them not to spread false news or rumors.

Meanwhile, Al-Anba daily reported that security authorities launched several extensive campaigns in Jabriya, Bneid Al-Gar and Rumaithiya areas in search of the fugitives of Abdali Cell who were convicted in final court rulings. A squad from the Sentences Enforcement Department, comprising of 50 police officers and non-commissioned officers headed by a Colonel, is taking part in the search operation along with special squads from the State Security Department and Criminal Investigations Department.

Fight against drugs: Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Khalid Al- Dayeen has affirmed that all countries worldwide are engaged in a fierce battle against drugs which have been threatening their safety, stability and social security and harming the young generation, reports local daily.

In a press statement, he explained that Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah has made fighting drugs and protecting youths from the dangers of drug use as a top priority. The premier issued directives to all concerned security sectors regarding the need to adopt developed ideas and scientific methods to combat drugrelated crimes. Major General Al-Dayeen stressed that the Criminal Security Sector will continue to wage a war on drug dealers and drug smugglers until their operations are thwarted and they are brought to justice.

He revealed that the leadership of the ministry has provided securitymen with modern equipment for ensuring success in identifying the developed methods used by the drug gangs and mafias for smuggling drugs into the country. Major General Al-Dayeen indicated that the sector, through coordination between Drugs Control General Department and Criminal Investigations Department, successfully confiscated 9.16 kilograms of methamphetamine, 3.13 kilograms of heroin, 148 kilograms of hashish, 7 kilograms of marijuana, 7 kilograms of “Chemical” drug, one kilogram of Avion drug, 177,000 brain stimulant pills and 5,500 bottles of imported liquor in the second quarter of the year (April, May and June 2017).
