July 29, 2015, 8:23 am

General Department for Residency Affairs Director Major General Talal Ma’arafi has submitted a study to Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid on the proposal to increase the fine for violating the Residency Law — from KD 2 to KD 4 daily, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the study was conducted after the concerned authorities noticed a remarkable increase in the number of Residency Law violations.

On the other hand, sources confirmed the department has started offering facilities for hotels to obtain visit visas within two hours after receiving the application. Sources said the department will notify the hotels if the person applying for the visa is banned from entering the country. Sources revealed the department decided to increase the fine imposed on foreigners who stay in the country even if their visit visas are expired from KD 10 to KD 20 per day. Sources added the department submitted the decision to the minister for approval after completing a study in this regard.
