1,120 prisoners covered by Amiri pardon, 208 released

Department of Sentences Enforcement has reduced the jail term of 1,129 male and female inmates based on orders from H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to pardon some inmates for which a pardon decree was issued on the occasion of the National and Liberation days. In a statement issued by the department on April 14, 2015, it declared that 208 inmates will be released immediately, the sentences of 435 inmates will be reduced, the judicial deportation order of 184 inmates will be lifted and fines imposed on 302 inmates will be dropped.

The pardon involves 263 Kuwaiti inmates including three Kuwaiti women, and 866 other nationalities including 30 women while a total of KD 1,092,255 of fines will be dropped.
