1,661 expats deported in crackdown on illegals, law-breakers

The Public Security Sector continued its security campaigns in line with the instructions of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali.

The sector established 724 checkpoints in various locations throughout the week, leading to the deportation of 1,661 expatriates who violated the Residency Law while others are wanted by law for involvement in criminal, civil, theft and absconding cases, as well as possession of narcotic substances. According to the sector, 35 of those arrested were found to be involved in criminal cases, 94 in civil cases, 44 in drug-related cases and 15 for the possession of liquor.

The campaigns also resulted in the recovery of 69 stolen vehicles and impounding of 177 others. This is in addition to the issuance of 3,460 traffic citations for various violations and 141 others for illegal parking, sources concluded.
