Schools to begin new academic year on Sept 10

The Ministry of Education has approved the proposed summer holiday of two months and 10 days for schools in the current academic year 2013/2014, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for General Education Affairs Dr Khalid Al- Rasheed. Al-Rasheed revealed classes in all levels for the next academic year will begin on Sept 10, 2014.

He explained the main reason behind the change in the summer holiday for schools as stipulated in decision number one is the rescheduling of the final examination because Ramadan this year will start by the end of June. He said the final examination for intermediate and secondary stages will be from May 23 to June 8 and May 31 to June 11 for grade 12.
