9,114 arrested expats face deportation

Based on directives from the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, some 9,114 expatriates have been arrested by security officers for various offenses ranging from absconding to residency law violation.

They are waiting for deportation. Security sources said 31 of the suspects were involved in criminal cases and 59 civil cases, while 26 were in possession of narcotic substances with eight alcohol related cases.

Meanwhile, the traffic department issued 1,384 citations for various traffic violations and dealt with 1,245 accidents. Sources said the security agencies will intensify checking across the country with heavy security presence to maintain security and order while bringing law violators to book.
