BAS visits Singapore
March 5, 2018, 1:02 pm

The British Academy of Sport (BAS) organized its eighth successful trip to the cleanest and greenest country in Asia: Singapore. A group of twenty students and three teachers enjoyed a fun-filled adventure holiday as part of their term break. For a country smaller than New York, Singapore is riddled with activities, entertainment and food matching the world’s best.

The six-day trip was packed with over ten sporting activities including swimming, high ropes, laser tag, trampoline, cycling, bubble soccer, luge, saber tag, beach volleyball and stand up paddle at top class venues against the backdrop of lush tropical forests.

BAS students also enjoyed a range of attractions such as the Gardens by the Bay with its twenty-first century space age Botanic Garden; the Night Safari where the electric tram glides past over 130 species often passing within centimetres of the tram; the amazing Universal Studios of Singapore where the glamour of stage and screen bewitched young and old as well as Sentosa Beach with its knock out views of the South China Sea.

The group also visited Dover Court International School (Nord Anglia) where they had a school tour and made new friends during the sports competition with Year 6 and 7 students from Singapore.

A special surprise for the students was to visit the Kuwait Embassy in Singapore where they met with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Singapore H.E. Yacoub Alsanad, to congratulate him on the occasion of Kuwait’s National and Liberation Day. The Ambassador hosted a lively exchange about the Embassy activities and he enjoyed a gift presentation from Year 5 student Abdulla Al Mutawa.

The trip culminated with an Awards Evening where students participated in the traditional 'BAS Got Talent Show' and all received medals, certificates and souvenirs of this unique and memorable trip to Singapore.

The trip was organized in collaboration with Elevator Company from Singapore, Qatar Airways, and it was sponsored by Decathlon, Crowne Plaza and Masafi. Following the success of the 2017/2018 trips to Ireland and Singapore, BAS is planning two new sports trips to Europe for the next academic year 2018/2019.

The next important event at BAS will be the 3rd Women’s International Volleyball Tournament which will take place on Friday, 30 March and is organized in collaboration with the Serbian Embassy. For more details about BAS Events and Activities call 99458013 or visit
