Bid to plug security breaches
June 28, 2016, 8:56 am

The Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) formed an inquiry commission headed by its Deputy Director-General Suleiman Al-Fahd, to investigate laxity and loopholes at the Shuwaikh Port and to ensure security measures are tightened.

The sources said the KGAC decided to take action after the General Department for Drugs Control seized a truck which was carrying one million narcotic pills immediately after it left the port, which means the consignment was inspected.

This case a pall of doubt that some customs inspectors may be working hand in gloves with the drugs smugglers.

The sources said this issue will not go unnoticed. The investigation into the matter will be serious and transparent until the truth is revealed.

Those found to be negligent will be taken to task and if it is proved the act were deliberate; the officers involved will meet the same fate of the smugglers.
