June 17, 2014, 8:18 am

The cabinet has asked the acting justice minister to coordinate with the Fatwa and Legislation Authority to present a request to the Public Prosecutor's Office for investigations into recent corruption claims.
The move was taken during a weekly cabinet meeting held at Seif Palace on Monday under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The cabinet also asked for legal action against anyone who could be found guilty in view of corruption allegations that were raised during a rally last Tuesday, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Justice Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in news remarks following the meeting.

The move aims to ensure societal security, safeguard public funds and observe the rule of law, he said, echoing His Highness the Premier's earlier calls for anybody who could have information or documents in this regard to come up with them immediately.
