Companies request cancellation of workers’ recruitment insurance
November 15, 2015, 9:31 am

The Manpower Public Authority is considering plans to cancel the KD 250 financial security deposit that are mandatory for employers towards each worker hired from abroad when involved in government projects, according to informed sources.

Many major companies had asked that the insurance demand imposed last April be removed on the grounds that the fee will accumulate to a large amount due to the number of laborers each company brings, the sources said, and mentioned that the companies are of the belief the funds would better be utilized to finish the projects quickly. The sources elaborated with an example, if a company is bringing in 2,000 laborers to work on a project, they would have to pay half a million in insurance fees.
