Cost of recruiting maids set to surge
January 5, 2015, 9:17 am

Owners of domestic labor offices expect the cost of recruiting overseas maid by employers will rise immensely and could cost more than KD 2,000 following the ‘temporary’ suspension of attestation of contracts for Indian female domestics by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The embassy said it has put on hold attestation of contracts for female domestic workers until the issue is solved with the concerned authorities in Kuwait which revolves around the equivalent of $2,500 bank guarantee.

The cost of bringing maids will shoot up because India has joined the list of countries — Nepal and Indonesia — which are not sending their women to work as maids to Kuwait.
