Customs seizes thousands of liquor bottles worth a million

Customs officers at Shuwaikh Port confiscated 14,800 bottles of ‘Red Label’ whisky and vodka worth KD1 million from a consignment that arrived at the port from Singapore.

A Syrian expatriate who was waiting at the port for receiving the cargo was arrested.Director of North ports Waleed Al-Nasser said one of the Customs officers, based on instructions from the Customs Director Khalid Al-Saif, checked a consignment of home appliances that arrived from Singapore and discovered 14,800 liquor bottles.

He revealed that a Syrian expatriate who was waiting to receive the cargo was arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution for investigations.
