Eid Al-Fitr will be on July 28 according to astronomical data, said a Kuwaiti researcher here Sunday.

Speaking to KUNA, astronomical researcher and historian Adel Al-Sa'adoun said that according to astronomical data, the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr will be on the 28th of this month; however, any announcement in regards to the advent of Eid must be made an eyewitness account of the crescent.

Eid Al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Traditionally, it is the day (beginning at sunset) of the first sighting of the crescent moon shortly after sunset. If the moon is not observed immediately after the 29th day of the previous lunar month (either because clouds block its view or because the western sky is still too bright when the moon sets), then it is the following day.
