Expatriate workers hold protest against unhealthy living conditions
September 28, 2015, 9:42 am

About 30 expatriate workers gathered outside the labor inspection department in Dajeej in an organized protest against their company-sponsored hostel conditions which they deemed unhealthy and unsuitable.  According to workers, they were forced to squeeze into a two-bedroom apartment with only one bathroom. After a close examination of the complaints, department inspectors verified that the workers had a legitimate complaint and that the employer had violated the contract conditions.

Subsequently, the inspectors filed a report recommending the suspension of the employer’s file under code 31.  On their part, the company admitted their violations and having broken the law requested a grace period to provide better living accommodations to the workers.
