Firefighting units were dispatched to bring under control a fire that broke out in three warehouses in Mina Abdullah's junkyard, south of the country, Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) announced Saturday.

Deputy Director General of firefighting and human resources development Brigadier Khaled Al-Mekrad told KUNA that the operation room received a call reporting fire breaking out in three warehouses that contained tires, vehicle parts and toys. The fire was spread out onto 3,000 square meters of land due to gusty winds and flammable materials, he pointed out.

The fire only inflicted material damage. Investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
