Firemen plug ammonia gas leak in Shuwaikh company

Several firefighters stopped the leakage of ammonia, which is used in the cooling system of big refrigerators, in the basement of a company specialized in the distribution of fruits in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

In a press statement, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) revealed the firefighters rushed to the location after the Operations Unit received a call from one of the company's employees who reported the ammonia leakage.

Clad in protective gear, the fire- fighters arrived at the scene four minutes after the incident was reported.

They quickly guided the employees to a safe area, took the necessary steps to stop the leakage, and then summoned the technical staff of the company to check if the leakage stopped. After some time, the area was declared completely clear of ammonia which is a poisonous substance.

High-ranking officials were also present to supervise the operation and guarantee the safety of everyone. Investigations are ongoing to determine actual cause of the leakage.
