HH the Amir''s meeting with Obama "fruitful, deep" - Kuwaiti FM

Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah affirmed Friday that the meeting between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and US President Barack Obama was "fruitful, honest and deep that reflects the distinctive relations between Kuwait and the US."

In an interview to KUNA and Kuwait Television, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said that the meeting covered the "distinctive" bilateral relations in the security and military cooperation domains, which "boosts Kuwait security and security in the region." The issues covered also included "our detainees in Guantanamo" and "facilitations of visas for our students," whose total number exceeded 7,000 students.

Regional issues were also discussed, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said, especially amid the "rapid developments in the region," including Syria, which was a topic of "deep" discussion with Obama. He added that the situation in Egypt was also tackled and the "importance of Egypt's security and stability and the importance of implementing the road map according to the laid out timetable."

The meeting also covered "very important" issues in the international arena, such as the "stability of the international monetary markets, environment and terrorism." "All this issues took time due to their significance for the two countries and their cooperation in those domains," he remarked.

He reiterated that the meeting was "fruitful and constructive, honest, deep and comprehensive."
