A number of Iranian ministers highlighted the significance of the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Iran in cementing the bilateral ties.

Speaking to KUNA Sunday evening, Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said the agreements signed earlier today in the presence of His Highness the Amir and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will open new horizons for cooperation in various fields.

"His Highness the Amir's visit is very significant for cementing the bilateral ties and expanding the cooperation in the political, economic, commercial and industrial domains," he affirmed.
Nematzadeh acknowledged that the bilateral trade volume is very meagre and falls behind the potentials and aspirations of both countries, urging for joint efforts to tap into the potentials of commercial and industrial cooperation.

The minister welcomed the signing earlier today of a MoU on Kuwait investment in the Iranian steel industry. On his part, Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Mahmoud Goudarzi said the MoU he signed with Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will open the way for sports cooperation, visit exchanges among sportspeople and holding friendly matches for men and women from both sides.

Goudarzi voiced hope for more contacts and exchanges among sportspeople and closer people-to-people relations.
Meanwhile, Vice-President and Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Sultanifar said the deep-rooted friendship is based on similarities in terms of religion, neighborliness, history and culture.

Sultanifar voiced confidence that the MoU on tourist cooperation, he signed with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled earlier today, will help attract more Kuwaiti tourists to Iran, noting that the two countries share the interest in promoting tourism and preserving their cultural heritage.

On her part, Iranian Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment (DoE) Maasoumeh Ebtekar said the MoU on environment cooperation, she has inked with Kuwaiti Oil Minister Ali Saleh Al-Omeir, will give momentum to the cooperation in this domain.

The two peoples maintain good cooperation in addressing the environmental issues particularly in the areas of conservation of marine life and combating pollution, she added.
