Increasing the ratio of Kuwaiti labor in private sector postponed
April 15, 2014, 10:22 am

Well-informed high-ranking sources at the manpower and government restructuring program said that the Cabinet decided postponing a decision on increasing the percentage of Kuwaitis working in the private sector until further notice.

The sources added the National Labor Support Act number 1104/2008 states that Kuwaitis’ percentages in the private sector should be increased every two years in order to have more private sector jobs for citizens.

The sources explained that the postponement was made because the suggested increase would affect the execution of development plans and that it needed more study through a committee especially formed for this pur- pose in order to enrich it with more visions of how to achieve development goals that at the same time does not overburden the private sector, namely in view of the KD 500 fine companies have to pay if they do not comply with the National Labor Support act.
