KD 300 fee to hire maids
March 31, 2015, 8:49 am

A number of lawmakers are currently working on a draft bill to establish a government company to bring in domestic workers into the country through the investment authority.

According to a local daily report, Parliamentary sources said that the idea had been previously proposed by MP Kamled Al-Awadhi over a year and a half earlier, and that the government’s delay in issuing a law made them to list it on the parliament’s agenda as soon as possible.

The sources explained that the main purpose of establishing such a government company was to fight the soaring fees citizens and expats pay to hire domestic workers, and that the new company would only charge KD 20 per application in addition to KD 280 for fees and airfare.
