Municipal Council Member advisor Ahmed Al-Fadhala stressed here on Monday the need to establish Kuwait Trade Center so that it becomes an economic monument in line with the desire of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to transform Kuwait into a global, financial trade center.

All of the developed countries in the world and some of the GCC states have global and international financial hubs for free trade, Al-Fadhala, also head of committee for organizing engineering professional practice, told KUNA on Monday.

He added that members of the Municipal Council and himself support the wise leadership's desire of turning Kuwait into a global trade center through the provision of the proposal of the trade center's establishment and determining its location, preferably on one of the country's waterfronts.

He added that the trade center will include headquarters of banks and global investment firms, major facilities and halls for receiving international delegations and holding economic conferences, in addition to multipurpose halls for exhibitions, as well as restaurants and branches of local and international banks and all financial services.

He also called for the development of the southern islands of the country, such as Umm Al-Maradim, Qaroh and Kubbar, as well as establishing transitional tourism government projects, already set out in the development plan. In regards with the recycling of waste in residential areas, Al-Fadhala said that the application of the system that sorts out households' waste will save the country large sums of money.
