Kuwait keen on bolstering Islamic solidarity - Sheikh Salman

Kuwait's Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Sabah said Monday his country is keen to strengthen and bolster solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries.

Under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah, Kuwait always contributes to cooperation among the OIC member states, Sheikh Salman said after the opening session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministers of youth and sport here.

The minister thanked the Saudi government, and the President of Youth Welfare in Saudi Arabia and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahad for their efforts in organizing and hosting this conference.

Sheikh Salman explained the conference discussed several important issues relating to sports and youth activities prepared by the relevant committees in the General Secretariat of OIC and aims to spread the practice of sports in Muslim countries.

Discussion also focused on recommendations by ISSF committee of the first conference, indicating that it was also considering a draft to protect youths from the side effects of social media, in addition to another draft on the protection of youths in the Muslim world.
