His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated on Tuesday the first regular session of the 14th legislative term of the National Assembly, congratulated the new parliament on earning the trust of the Kuwaiti people, wishing them success in their future responsibilities.
"The holding of elections and the opening of the first session of the 14th legislative term during the Holy Month of Ramadan is truly a blessed sequence of events that will hopefully lead to a better political future for this country," said His Highness Sheikh Sabah who called on the National Assembly and Cabinet to work together in supporting the country's development.
His Highness said that Kuwaitis should safeguard their democracy and not allow others to interfere with their matters, adding that Kuwait should not be the field where the disputes of nations would create schism amongst the components of society.
He called on Kuwaitis to reinforce their national unity especially at the time when nations east and west were engulfed in the fires of war and strife.
"Whatever hardship that lies ahead should be met by cooperation between parliament and cabinet ... There is no time to waste on issues of dispute, we are in need of every sincere effort and resource," said His Highness the Amir.
