February 28, 2016, 9:30 am

As a precautionary measure, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has suspended the files of 595 individuals who receive social aid after discovering that some of such individuals hold commercial licenses and own companies with workforce.

Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Sector Hassan Kadhim said the sector coordinated with the concerned government bodies including Manpower Public Authority and discovered an individual who has been receiving social aid and has more than 120 people registered under his sponsorship.

He lamented, “How can social aid be given to someone who holds a commercial license and has a huge labor force of 120 individuals?

“Such people will be referred to Manpower Public Authority so that they can be dealt with in a proper manner.”

Kadhim said, “A grace period of one month has been given to such individuals to rectify their status and either cancel their licenses and return to social aid program or vice versa.”
