Director of Highway and Bridge Maintenance at Ministry of Public Works Engineer Raja Al-Momen disclosed that the ministry has started asphalting the roads affected by flying pebbles, in compliance with directives from the sector minister Engineer Abdul-Aziz Al- Ibrahim, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Engineer Al-Momen made the disclosure during field inspection tour he made to check the ongoing maintenance works along Maghrib Road. She declared the officials will intensify maintenance activities to complete the needful within one month, so that the fading away of asphalt will become history. She said the ministry has laid down a comprehensive schedule to work on the roads, while each road needs about three days to complete.

She hopes that citizens and expatriates will cooperate with the ministry to end the phenomenon by tolerating the resultant traffic congestion. She revealed that government and the fact-finding committee in charge of reviewing the situation and its causes have been working together to study the last layer of roads. She explained the officers have used the method to discover the most concrete layer that can stand the weather in Kuwait.
