Al-Obeidi said during the opening of the second conference of medical education for trainee physicians that the Institute seeks since its inception to develop basic training programs and specialized training to keep pace with the latest developments in medical education where training and its specialized programs have become codified with clear-cut criteria that is consistent with international standards.

He added that the development in the field of professional medical practice is no longer limited to medical expertise but extends to multiple skills which must be owned by doctors to be qualified to practice their profession such as communicating with the patient, the foundations of the practice of patient safety, vocational and continuing education, development of skills of medical education and research.

He explained that the themes of this conference are concerned with consolidating and refining these perceptions with the trainee doctors and interns to best serve their patients, calling on doctors to continue their efforts to make these concepts a key part of the evaluation of the trainee doctor and the development activities of the conference in the future.

For his part, Secretary General of the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties, Dr. Ibrahim Hadi said the modern medical training enables the trainee physician during the years of training to master the medical and professional skills that qualify him to carry out his responsibilities in a modern health system.
