MoI denies reported remarks against officers

The Ministry of Interior has categorically dismissed recent local reports attributed to Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah against assistant undersecretaries.

"The statement affiliated to Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled detailing that those un-promoted officers fail to do their security duty properly is totally divorced from reality," the ministry's security information office said in a release on Wednesday.

Local newspapers and social networking websites had claimed that Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled warned those assistant undersecretaries and officers who were not included in a recent promotion process that "it would be a futile move if they resort to members of parliament".

"The Interior Minister has not made any statement or comment to any media outlet in this regard," the release said.

However, it said, the minister has held a regular meeting with assistant undersecretaries on security and traffic problems in the country.

Hailing policemen as a model for discipline and commitment, the security information office urged local mass media to seek reliable sources for accurate and detailed information.
