MoI vows pre-emptive strikes to protect Kuwait against terrorism

The Ministry of Interior is determined to continue to carry out “preemptive strikes” to protect the nation from the perils of terrorism, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah said on Tuesday. Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled made the remarks in a statement issued by the ministry after he chaired a meeting with senior security officials to review current plans and developments.

Moreover, he noted that the use of preemptive strikes have paid ultimate dividends as authorities have been able to thwart a number of terrorist plots targeting the nation. Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled also underscored that the security of the nation takes ultimate precedence as turmoil grips the region.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister said that he had received several phone calls from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders commending security forces on their recent achievements and their efforts to uphold security in the country.

“True security is the ability to repel all threats that aim to do harm and kill innocent lives,” he noted, adding that the nation is grateful for and confident in the efforts of security personnel. With the onset of the Eid Al-Fitr holidays, Sheikh Mohmmad Al- Khaled sought to allay concerns of safety, urging the people of Kuwait to stay calm. “All security precautions are in place,” he said.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has stressed its full solidarity with the State of Kuwait in all measures taken to maintain security and stability, and combat terrorist plots which seek to undermine the country’s stability and safety of people.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry said in a press statement on Monday that these measures ensure the protection of the state’s properties and institutions, and the continuation of development and prosperity paths under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah.

The statement reiterated the depth of historic and brotherly relations with Kuwait, indicating that Bahrain affirmed that it stands side by side with the State of Kuwait in its endeavors aiming to combat violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denouncement of attempts seeking to undermine stability and security of Kuwait and its national unity, the statement said.

Member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will continue decisively combating terrorism which poses a threat to GCC nations and member states, it noted. Bahrain’s Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al- Khalifa lauded, in a telephone conversation with Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the success made by Kuwaiti security apparatuses that led to the arrest of member of “terrorist groups”, it said.

Sheikh Rashid also voiced its support for measures taken by Kuwait aiming at maintaining security and confronting firmly everybody tries to pose a threat to the country’s stability and security, it said. Sheikh Rashid reiterated full cooperation in all conditions between security authorities of the two countries in the framework of the firm brotherly relations, the statement concluded.
