National Assembly approves several regional, int'l co-op agreements

The National Assembly approved a number of agreements for cooperation with countries as well as regional and international organizations during its ordinary session on Wednesday.
The approved pacts were referred to the government for deliberation and approval.

The endorsed agreements includes an agreement for economic, commercial, investment and technical cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Kuwait, and the United States; an agreement between Kuwait and Tajikistan to avoid double taxation and evasion; agreement for customs cooperation with Jordan; and an agreement for economic and technical cooperation with Iraq.

The National Assembly also approved the Foreign Affairs Committee''''s bill on Kuwait''''s joining Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and another bill on joining Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property.

Meanwhile, the Assembly decided to postpone, for one month, voting on a memorandum of understanding between Kuwait and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for setting up the IMF-Middle East Economics and Finance Center in Kuwait, to allow the government to present its report on the issue to it.
