July 15, 2014, 9:25 am

Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi has unveiled a plan to reshuffle the assistant undersecretaries and recruit new ones after the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press statement on the sideline of the Medical Association’s ‘Ghabqa’ recently with the attendance of Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal Al-Humoud, Al-Obaidi affirmed the ministry is ready to provide medical assistance to the people in Gaza in line with local and international laws, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the corona virus, Al-Obeidi asserted there is no reason for the public to worry as the country did not witness new infections and the ministry is ready if new cases are discovered. He added that Kuwait took part in the recently-concluded UN conference on controlling chronic diseases in New York. During the conference, a delegation headed by Undersecretary Dr Khalid Al-Sahalawi presented the precautionary measures taken by the ministry to combat chronic diseases, he said.

He stressed the World Health Organization is keen on controlling such diseases, clarifying that Kuwait was part of decisions taken earlier to reduce the amount of salt in bread to prevent high blood pressure; in addition to similar decisions to reduce fat and sugar consumption. He also emphasized that he supports doctors and spares no effort in meeting their demands in a bid to develop the medical profession.
