No proposal to deport expats: Traffic chief
March 15, 2016, 8:37 am

Assistant Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdullah Al-Muhanna said the proposal to raise the value of traffic fines is with the fatwa and legislation department, and hoped it would be approved soon. He said the proposal to increase fees for traffic services is still being studied.

Muhanna denied that the traffic sector presented a cars crushing project, adding that the traffic department did not and will not present such a project because it violates the law, as the vehicle is private property and it needs a court verdict, other than this will be a violation of the law.

Muhanna said “there is no proposal with regards to deporting expatriates for some violations”. He said the word “deportation” is not said to frighten expats, and it is not up to personal opinion, but it is according to procedures, and it is only for driving without a license and transporting passengers illegally.
