OneDrive to transcribe video and audio files
September 2, 2018, 12:31 pm

Before the end of the year Microsoft is expected to add automated transcription capabilities to OneDrive for Business for video and audio files. The software maker will use the same AI that is available in the company’s corporate video-sharing service, Microsoft Stream, to make OneDrive smarter.

The automatic transcript will be particularly useful if you are holding meetings or making a presentation and would like to provide a transcript of the same to the audience. The new service will also allow for content on the audio and video files to be searched on OneDrive thereby making it easy to find when someone mentions a particular phrase in a meeting or finding receipts for expense reports.

Microsoft has not given a specific date for the launch of this transcription service other than later this year. Microsoft is focusing on AI for its business-focused Ignite conference later next month, so we might see these, and newer AI features appear soon.
