Ooredoo supports OXadventure youth initiative

The initiative aims to change youth by sending them to give aid abroad

Ooredoo in Kuwait announced its support for OXadventure, a youth initiative that gives youth the opportunity to give aid in developing countries and to communities in need. Ooredoo announced that it will be the main sponsor for OXadventure for their current season.

Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at the new Ooredoo headquarters in Kuwait City, General Manager and CEO Abdulaziz Fakhroo noted: “One of our core values at Ooredoo is supporting youth and helping them reach new heights.

We saw that OXadventure can help youth in Kuwait reach their ultimate potential; it is an adventure that is both fun and enlightening.” Fakhroo explained that the season includes four trips: Rwanda, Sri Lanka, India, and one more location that will be announced a few days later.

Elaborating on the purpose of the trips, Noura Al-Ruwaished of OXadventure explained: “We wanted to create an experience that helps in humbling the Kuwaiti youth. We wanted them to experience life away from the comfort of what they take for granted, and to take part in aid projects in developing areas.”

Saud Al-Juwayan from OXadventure explained that the trips, which will be fully funded by Ooredoo, include activities such as building and repairing homes and furniture in rural villages, as well as distributing aid and helping in schools and community centres. One of the core values of Ooredoo is supporting youth in reaching their potential, therefore Ooredoo in Kuwait will be continuously endorsing local initiatives and campaigns that empower and educate youth.

Aside from its local initiatives in each country where it operates, Ooredoo Group has a number of ongoing international partnerships including its relationship with the Leo Messi Foundation, which has seen the company bring mobile health clinics to towns and villages in Indonesia.

Ooredoo Group has officially announced the rebrand on 25 February 2013 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The new brand, since then, is being adopted by Ooredoo companies across its footprint, and has received international recognition with a series of awards at major global events. The company was recently named “Best Mobile Operator” at the World Communication Awards.
