Over 30,000 citations issued, 1,266 cars seized, 24 nabbed

Director of Public Relations and Moral Guidance Department, and Acting Director of Security Media Department Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash affirmed that the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Sabah has issued instructions for Traffic, Public Security and Criminal Security sectors of Ministry of Interior to increase security efforts.

He said under the guidance of Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt General Sulaiman Al-Fahad, intensive security campaigns, even involving helicopters, were carried out last week during which a number of violations were detected.

During the campaigns, officers from the General Traffic Department issued 30,874 citations against various traffic violations, seized 1,266 vehicles and 36 motorbikes and arrested 24 individuals. Officers from the Operations Unit issued 3,288 citations against various traffic violations, seized 208 vehicles and 36 motorbikes and arrested four individuals.

Capital Traffic Department issued 6,238 citations against traffic violations, seized 214 vehicles and arrested two individuals. Hawally Traffic Department issued 4,892 traffic citations and seized 191 vehicles. Farwaniya Traffic Department issued 5,129 traffic citations, seized 135 vehicles and arrested 11 individuals. Ahmadi Traffic Department issued 2,821 traffic citations, seized 41 vehicles and arrested four individuals. Jahra Traffic Department issued 1,737 traffic citations, seized 110 vehicles and arrested an individual. Mubarak Al-Kabeer Traffic Department issued 1,919 traffic citations, seized 187 vehicles and arrested two individuals.

The Monitoring and Inspection Department affiliated to the office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at Ministry of Interior issued 4,850 traffic citations and seized 180 vehicles.

The General Department for Rescue Police issued 654 traffic citations, arrested 96 individuals and seized four vehicles and six wanted vehicles. Out of the arrested individuals, 20 were involved in criminal cases, 43 were involved in civil cases, 5 individuals were reported as absconding, one individual was a suspect in a theft case, 3 violated the Residency Law, 4 did not have any identification documents and 21 individuals were in possession of drugs.

The Public Security Sector issued 1,060 traffic citations, seized 28 vehicles and 14 motorbikes, arrested 64 individuals, recovered a stolen vehicle and found 4 female juveniles who were reported as missing. Among the arrested individuals, 4 were involved in cases, 34 had violated the Residency Law, 2 were cross-dressers, 9 were involved in civil cases and 15 were in possession of drugs.

The Public Security Directorate arrested a total of 7,136 men and women from all six governorates who were involved in various cases. Brigadier Al-Hashash affirmed that the top leaders of Ministry of Interior have issued strict instructions to arrest violators of law. He urged Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates to cooperate with securitymen, support the security efforts and comply with the law.
