PAAET mulls counseling for tomboys, gays

The Director- General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Dr Ahmad Al-Athari has announced a plan to establish a center for psychological counseling to deal with tomboys and gays inside colleges and institutes affiliated to the PAAET, reports Al-Rai daily. The counseling will be done by teachers specialized in the subject, said the official.

He went on to say the Executive Committee of the Authority is waiting for approval from PAAET’s Board of Directors. Al-Athari, in a press statement said: ‘We have not seen this phenomenon on a large scale inside PAAET - the phenomenon which is global and not individual.” With regard to the sexual harassment inside PAAET colleges and institutes, Al-Athari said this issue is not a phenomenon and called them rare individual cases that will be dealt with firmly and may even lead to dismissal of the guilty.
