November 1, 2016, 8:32 am

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) signed Monday a deal with the National Technology Enterprises Company (NTEC) to build, complete, maintain, and operate a model home operated by a renewable energy system, in accordance with intentional standards.

The project is based on the directions of His Highness the Amir of diversifying power sources in the country by the year 2030 via using 15 percent of renewable energy of the total electric production, and Law No 27 (1995) which allows the private sector to build on empty state lands for housing purposes, Bader Al-Wugayyan, PAHW's Director-General, said in a press statement.

NTEC is to carry out operations, maintenance, readings, and studies of the project, and submit a report to PAHW, at end of the operating period, that include results of the project's power consumption rate, Al-Wugayyan said.

According to the deal, the company will organize a training course for PAHW's employees, in cooperation with international bodies specialized in technology production, he noted, adding that the deal's implementation period is 78 months: 18 months for building the house and 60 months for operations and maintenance.
