Parliament OKs gratuity overture
July 1, 2014, 9:31 am

The National Assembly has approved a draft law granting end-of-service gratuity for civil and military staff and employees in the private sector in the first and second deliberations.

Fifty-two out of a total of 53 members of parliament voted for the bill with only one abstention.

The bill is mainly intended to ease out burdens on retired citizens, improve their conditions, raise their standards of living and provide with them a decent life, according to an explanatory memo.

The bill will apply to Kuwaiti citizens working in public, private and oil sectors, together with retired military personnel.
