Parliament agrees to amend some articles of civil service law
June 21, 2016, 8:21 am

The National Assembly on Monday agreed, in the first reading, on a bill to amend some provisions of the law regulating the civil service.

Upon a request by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the parliament nodded to adjourn the vote on the second reading.

The new bill sets 65 years as a retirement age for both Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti civil servants except for preachers, doctors, undertakers, medical institutions staff, teaching staff at government universities and applied institutes and researchers at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, who should be retired by the age of 75. MPs will resume discussing the bill on Tuesday.
