April 12, 2017, 5:52 pm

The National Assembly on Wednesday endorsed the capital expenditure, second chapter - purchase of non-current assets in state budget - for the FY 2017-2018. The capital expenditure for the construction projects, maintenance, equipment and machines was estimated at KD 2.884.527 million (about US$ 9.43 million).

Head of the parliament Committee on Budgets and Final Account MP Adnan Abdul-Samad told today's session that the capital expenditure constitutes up to 14 percent of the state budget, covering 524 projects.

He added that the endorsement has to be accompanied by acceleration of work at construction projects, and purchase of equipment and machines, noting that leasing of the two the two items cost the budget KD 296 million (about US$ 968 million) over the past five years. Abdul-Samad said spending fell short of 178 projects according to the last final account though amounts of money were included.
