Philippine Envoy meets various heads of Filipino organizations
May 18, 2014, 12:52 pm

Leaders of different Filipino organizations in Kuwait met with the Philippine envoy Lamberto Monsanto on Thursday night, 15 May at the embassy premises. The envoy discussed details on projects and developments currently being implemented by the embassy. One of the issues was the importance of getting involved with the Overseas Absentee Voting Registration (OAVR) and the much publicized Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus and to add the commemoration of Philippine Independence Day.

In his remarks, Ambassador Monsanto lauded the community for their generous and kind support to the embassy and labor section and assured OFWs of the embassy’s commitment to the welfare of the OFWs in Kuwait. Consul General Atty. Raul Dado detailed information on OAVR.

He said that the election will kick-off on 9 May and will end on 31 October. The Philippine Envoy also introduced the newest additions to the embassy staff; they are First Secretary Consul Jabbar Adiong and Third Secretary Vice Consul Shiena Tesorero. With the addition of new officials, the Ambassador hopes to address quickly the issues and resolve whatever problems OFWs
may encounter in the future. Adiong also urged all OFWs to be cautious and that there has been no earlier announcement made requiring OFWs medical clearance before they return to Philippines.

To end, Cultural Attaché Alethea Rana informed the attendees on the activities scheduled for Philippine Independence Day that include flag raising ceremony and cultural shows.
