August 18, 2014, 8:43 am

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi said the ministry has put in place a strategy in cooperation with the private sector to prevent epidemics and diseases from entering the country, reports a local Arabic daily.

This came after it was discovered about 2,000 expatriates suffering from AIDS and TB were able to find their way into the country because they were not subjected to medical tests before coming to Kuwait.

Al-Sahlawi said the Ministry of Health has hired the services of a public company (owned by the General Secretariat of Awqaf and Kuwait Finance House) to conduct necessary tests on people who seek employment in Kuwait. He added this process has proved effective since out of the 133,430 Egyptians who had applied for employment in Kuwait 4,399 of them were found medically unfit
