Professionals to be tested on career skills

Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs in the Ministry of Social Affairs Jamal Al-Dousari disclosed that an administrative decision was issued to approve 25 professions that meet career tests and fulfills the activities of the institution which the expatriate personnel would join upon the employer’s desire, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

In a statement after a meeting with Dr Fawzi Al-Dokhi who’s the technical director of the center that approves the standards of career skills, Al-Dousari said they agreed that testing the laborer for career skill standards is purely based on the desire of the employer. He explained that no obligation will be imposed by the ministry in this domain, noting the Kuwaiti embassies will be in charge of conducting the tests before work permit is issued for the laborer.

For his part, Al-Dokhi said these procedures will be optional in the pilot phase, indicating nearly 300 jobs tests will be approved gradually by the ministry. The 25 professions include pharmacist, x-ray technician, tiny instruments technician, blood group technician, lab technician, accountant, turner, carpenter, plumber, car mechanic, aluminium technician, information service support technician and painter. It also covers assistant teacher of special needs, teacher of special needs, teacher of dyslexia, social worker of special needs, director of programs of special needs, supervisor of special needs.
