Souk Mubarakiya to hike rents of shops

Manager of Souk Mubarakiya Abdulaziz Al-Masoud revealed that the management of the souk is planning to increase the rents of the shops in the souk especially since they have not been increased for 20 years, reports Al- Qabas daily.

He indicated that the rents of some shops, following the end of their contracts, will be increased from KD 260 to KD 400. Al-Masoud explained that Souk Mubarakiya has a total of 529 shops including six butcher shops. They had filed cases at the court and so far only two cases were rejected. He indicated, “All shops are operating normally but if any shop owner is facing loss, he will definitely leave the shop”.
